Britspace Modular is a leading manufacturer of steel framed modular buildings. Products are manufactured and supplied to a diverse range of end markets including the custodial, defence, hotel, education, health, commercial and residential sectors.
The Britspace Group was established as a subsidiary of GB Industries Limited in the late 1980s, manufacturing its first factory hotel building for Forte at Hartshead Moor, on the M62 in 1989 with the first of over 400 McDonald's restaurants manufactured in 1991. The modular building part of the business grew and developed during the 1990s, with BBA Certification awarded in 1995, recognising a build life of up to 60 years, equivalent to traditional bricks and mortar development. The product range was further expanded in 1998 with the manufacture of the first bathroom pod.
A key transformation has been the strengthening of the management team; David Harris has introduced construction best practices to Britspace Modular, including revised processes for procurement, estimating and quality assurance, has strengthened second tier management and has led the development into education, residential and health sectors. Utilising rolling production lines and lean manufacturing techniques Britspace ensure optimum manufacturing flexibility and efficiency. Rolling lines are presently used by the business enabling different structures to be run on different lines, as required.
